The review i just read was a very good review to promote the club but thought he was talking about the Yarraville bowling club not the Williamstown bowling club The pictures of the greens certainly look like Williamstown The club is a great club to visit and the greens are always in good condition to bowl on And the people you met there are always friendly

Get to know our rich history

The Williamstown Bowling Club is one of the oldest bowls club in Victoria. The club was founded at the Williamstown Mechanics Institute on the 9th of June 1880.

The club formed a three rink green on land adjoining the Mechanics Institute and erected its first pavilion in 1883.

In 1888 a new green of eight rinks and a two room veranda was opened in our present location in what is now Dennis Reserve.

In 1889 the club adopted its first constitution declaring the club colours royal blue and yellow which still remain as club colours today.

In 1919 electric light was installed and that installation was replaced by the present system on our two seven rink green in 1966.

Over the years the clubhouse had various alterations and extensions and was eventually demolished. The present clubhouse was opened in 1991.
